Some Nu-Derm formulations contain hydroquinone. These require individual clinical assessment and instructions from the prescribing clinician. Prescription and non-prescription versions should not be treated as interchangeable.

Obagi Professional-C® Serums

The Professional-C range features L-ascorbic acid, the active form of vitamin C, in 10%, 15% and 20% strengths. Vitamin C provides antioxidant support and helps improve the appearance of dullness, uneven tone and visible signs of ageing. The appropriate strength depends on skin type and tolerance, rather than simply choosing the highest percentage.

Obagi-C® Rx and Fx Systems

The Obagi-C range includes different formulations combining vitamin C with ingredients used for uneven skin tone. Rx formulations containing hydroquinone require clinical assessment. Fx formulations use arbutin instead of hydroquinone and are non-prescription skincare products. Check the exact product name and ingredient list, as the two versions have different requirements.

ELASTIderm® Eye Products

The ELASTIderm eye range focuses on the appearance of firmness, elasticity and fine lines around the eyes. Obagi and prescription skincare

Some Obagi formulations contain hydroquinone, including certain Nu-Derm and Obagi-C Rx products. These require a medical assessment before prescribing. A clinician must determine whether treatment is appropriate, explain relevant precautions and advise on duration and review.

Tretinoin also requires prescribing assessment. It should not be added to a routine simply because it is discussed alongside an Obagi system. Suitability and the combination of products depend on the individual.
