Obagi Hydrate Luxe® is a rich facial moisturising cream formulated with tara seed extract and biomimetic peptides. Designed particularly for evening use, it provides intensive hydration in a more substantial texture than standard Obagi Hydrate.
When choosing a moisturiser, consider how your skin feels after cleansing, whether your current routine leaves it dry, and the texture you find comfortable. A richer cream may suit your evening routine even if you prefer a lighter moisturiser during the day.

The published formula includes glycerin, shea butter, avocado oil, mango seed butter, dimethicone and tara-derived ingredients. Its peptides are tripeptide-1 and caprooyl tetrapeptide-3.
Moisturisers typically combine ingredients with complementary functions:
These functions explain why moisturising can improve dryness and surface comfort. The presence of an individual ingredient does not establish how much the finished product will change wrinkles or other signs of ageing.

The richer option, with peptides and an emphasis on evening hydration.
Obagi Hydrate Facial Moisturiser is a lightweight cream intended for morning and evening use. It contains tara seed extract, shea butter and mango butter, and is listed for normal-to-dry, normal-to-oily and combination skin.
Hydrate Light is a separate, oil-free gel-cream with a lighter, fast-absorbing texture. Standard Hydrate should not be described as Hydrate Light: they are different formulations.
Choosing between them is partly a question of texture and routine. You do not need to use multiple Hydrate products together. Start with the formulation that suits your skin and preferred finish.
Apply to the face in the evening as part of your nightly skincare routine, following your supplied directions. If your routine includes prescribed treatments, follow your clinician’s instructions for application order.
For existing patients following an Obagi Nu-Derm regimen, our Obagi Nu-Derm product-order reference explains the routine structure. Your individual treatment instructions take precedence.
Obagi reports an improvement in the appearance of fine lines, referencing a blinded product-use test from 2013 with data held on file. This is a manufacturer-reported finding; individual results vary.
Moisturising can make fine lines associated with dryness less noticeable. That should not be confused with permanently removing wrinkles.
