What is Alastin TriHex Technology?
TriHex Technology is Alastin’s peptide-based approach to supporting skin affected by ageing and environmental exposure. Its scientific rationale centres on the extracellular matrix: the network surrounding skin cells that includes structural components such as collagen and elastin.
Collagen contributes to structural support, while elastin contributes to elasticity. Research into matrix-modulating skincare explores how selected peptides may support the processes involved in maintaining and renewing this environment.
These proposed biological mechanisms need to be distinguished from the outcomes measured in people. Improvements in the appearance of lines, texture or firmness depend on the complete formulation, how it is used and the evidence available for that particular product.
What is TriHex+?
TriHex+ is the updated technology in Alastin Restorative Skin Complex 2.0, 29ml. It incorporates proprietary Octapeptide-45, which the manufacturer describes as supporting the skin’s natural production of collagen, elastin and high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid.
The updated serum also includes magnolol to support the appearance of plumpness and volume, and niacinamide to address visible uneven tone. Its overall focus includes texture, hydration, elasticity, dullness and the appearance of fine lines.

Why the complete formula matters
A technology name describes one aspect of a product. The surrounding ingredients, formulation characteristics, intended application area and use instructions also matter.
A facial serum, an eye treatment and a moisturiser can share a peptide technology while serving different purposes. Their results cannot be treated as interchangeable, and a study involving one product does not establish the performance of every product carrying the same technology name.
Similarly, an ingredient’s proposed activity does not tell us its concentration in a finished product or the size of the visible improvement an individual will experience.

Restorative Skin Complex 2.0: facial peptide serum
Restorative Skin Complex 2.0 is the TriHex+ facial serum discussed in this guide. It brings several visible ageing concerns into one treatment step, rather than being limited to one application area such as the eyes or neck.
Restorative Eye Complex: eye-area care
Alastin Restorative Eye Complex is the eye-area formulation. Its product-specific instructions and evidence should guide its use; the introduction of TriHex+ in the facial serum does not establish a corresponding change to this UK product.
Restorative Neck Complex: neck and décolleté care
Alastin Restorative Neck Complex provides a dedicated formulation for the neck and décolleté. It remains a separate product with its own application guidance and results evidence.
Skin Nectar: procedure-related skincare
Alastin Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology has a distinct role in clinician-directed skincare around aesthetic procedures. Published work has examined matrix-modulating peptide skincare in this setting.
Procedure-related routines require individual instructions. The timing of application before or after treatment should come from the treating clinician, particularly when the skin barrier has been disrupted.
Ultra Nourishing Moisturiser: the moisturising step
Alastin Ultra Nourishing Moisturiser occupies the moisturising step in a routine. Sharing a technology with a treatment serum does not make the products equivalent or mean both are required for every person.
Does every Alastin product use TriHex?
No. Alastin also has products with different formulation approaches and technologies. The presence of a peptide in an ingredient list does not, by itself, make a product TriHex or TriHex+.
Use the individual UK product description and supplied packaging to identify the formulation. Product availability, names and packaging can differ between markets, so a US launch should not be assumed to apply automatically to the UK range.
How should TriHex clinical results be interpreted?
Start by identifying whether the evidence concerns a single product or a complete routine. Some historical Alastin examples involve cleanser, moisturiser, sunscreen and more than one treatment product. Others involve an aesthetic procedure as well as skincare.
Those distinctions affect what the results can demonstrate. A combined-regimen photograph cannot isolate one serum’s contribution, and an older formulation’s photograph should not be relabelled as a result from the updated formula.

Is TriHex+ the same as Restorative Skin Complex 2.0?
TriHex+ is the technology name. Restorative Skin Complex 2.0 is the finished facial serum containing that technology, together with other formulation components.
Does the introduction of TriHex+ make original TriHex products obsolete?
No. The eye, neck, moisturising and procedure-related products have different roles. A change to one facial serum does not mean those other formulations have been replaced.
Is TriHex+ a retinoid?
No. TriHex+ describes a peptide technology. Retinoids are a different ingredient family. Whether a peptide product belongs alongside an existing retinoid routine depends on the complete products and individual skin tolerance.
Does “volume” mean the serum works like an injectable filler?
No. In this context, volume refers to the appearance of skin plumpness. A topical cosmetic should not be expected to reproduce an injectable filler’s effect on anatomical volume loss.
