Apply to lips every two hours to maintain sun protection. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every two hours. Consult a doctor before use on children under 6 months.
The lips have very little melanin — the pigment that provides natural UV protection — making them highly susceptible to UV damage, sunburn, and long-term photodamage. Regular use of an SPF lip product significantly reduces this risk and helps prevent premature ageing of the lip area.
Colorescience Lip Shine uses mineral zinc oxide as its active sunscreen ingredient. While it is not intended for ingestion, the formula is designed for lip use and the ingredients are considered safe for incidental ingestion in the small amounts typical of lip product use.
Yes. The Pink shade works beautifully alone for a fresh, everyday look or layered over a pink or nude lip liner for more definition. It adds a bright, youthful flush while delivering SPF protection.
Most SPF lip balms use chemical UV filters and offer minimal skincare benefits. Colorescience Lip Shine uses mineral zinc oxide (safer for sensitive skin), adds active peptides for plumping, hyaluronic acid for hydration, and vitamin E for antioxidant protection — making it a significantly more complete lip treatment.
Yes. The mineral-only SPF formula is free from chemical UV filters, parabens, and gluten, making it suitable for sensitive skin and those with ingredient sensitivities.
Prolonged sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer and premature skin ageing. Use broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher daily on all exposed skin, including the lips.
